Research: Artificial Intelligence for Hydroacoustic Signatures
Each ship has a unique acoustic signature generated by its engine. However, the marine environment and data collections poses challenges in the accurate classification of ship noise.
The research aims on developing explainable AI for classifying hydroacoustic signatures using neural networks, while integrating human expertise. The study explores convolutional networks (CNNs) with time-frequency and modulation analyses as inputs to improve the accuracy and reliability of ship classification.
